Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has showered praise on star striker Cristiano Ronaldo, saying he has proved his worth on the wing, following his side 4-2 win against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga at Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo, who scored brace in his side's clash with Athletic, had often been used centrally but Zidane believes that the team need him on the wing.

"We went looking for that because Cristiano is very important on the wing. He has speed and is very good one-on-one," the 43-year-old was quoted as saying by goal.com.

The French manager, however, admitted that Athletic were a very strong opponent and that they competed really well.

"Athletic are a very strong opponent and apply pressure together. They do very well at putting pressure on one side but on the other there is more space," Zidane added.

Madrid, which have scored 20 goals in their last four home games since Zidane took charge, are currently second in standings and are just one point behind leaders Barcelona.
