The pre-booking for 2014 Jaguar XJ has already started with an advance amount of Rs. 5 lacs, while it will arrive in the market by June. The same got unveiled at the last month held Auto Expo with an announcement that it will be locally assembled. The luxury sedan will walk down the Indian market via CKD route, and will be assembled at the company's Pune facility where Jaguar XF and Land Rover Freelander 2 are already being assembled.
The all-new Jaguar XJ will arrive with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol version will come with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing max power of 236.7bhp at 5,500rpm and 340Nm of top torque. The particular variant is claimed with a top-speed of 241kmph, while it takes just 7.5 seconds to cross 0-100kmph mark. It returns with a fuel efficiency of 9.4kmpl.
On the other hand, the diesel variant is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that churns max power of 271bhp at 4000rpm and top torque measures 600Nm. This sprints to 100kmph from rest in just 6.4 seconds, while it reaches the top-speed of 250kmph. The diesel variant has been claimed with fuel efficiency of 12.9kmpl. Both, petrol and diesel engines are combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to rear wheels. The new Jaguar XJ will compete against the likes of Mercedes S Class, and yet-to-arrive 2014 Audi A8 facelift.
