Maruti has launched a facelift for the highest selling car in India, the Alto 800. This mid-life makeover sports many cosmetic updates over the previous model. But, the biggest change is the nine per cent increase in the fuel economy, which we think will attract even more buyers to this already popular car. The Maruti Alto 800 now has a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.7 Km/l (petrol). Let's take a closer look at all the changes in the new Alto!.
Exterior
The biggest change to the exterior, has been made to the front profile. The car now features a new sleek grille and the Suzuki insignia has moved down to the bumper. The bumper itself is completely new and features a different, more angular air dam and a pair of fog lamps, which were missing from the earlier model. The headlamp units retain the shape but have reworked detailing inside. The side and rear profiles remain unchanged. Two new color options have been added as well, namely Mojito Green and Cerulean Blue.
Interiors
There is no change in the dashboard, steering wheel or the instrument cluster. The changes on the inside come in the form of new fabric upholstery. This is also carried forward to the door panels which get fabric inserts. The higher variants feature fixed rear seat headrests, child-safety lock on the rear doors and remote keyless entry. Good news is that a driver side airbag is optional and the passenger side rear-view mirror is now standard across trim levels.
