The German luxury carmaker, BMW that recently unveiled the new MINI at the company's UK production plant, is now all set to premiere the vehicle at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The new MINI range now features all-new architecture, new design and a range of new fuel efficient engines.
The new MINI is based on the company's new front and all-wheel drive UKL1 platform, which will underpin several models in the near future. This platform has helped the company to make it 98mm longer, 44mm wider and 7mm taller than its predecessor (3,821mm long x 1,727mm wide x 1,414mm tall). The wheelbase of the vehicle has been increased by 28mm, while the track width has been extended by 42mm and 34mm at the front and rear, respectively.
It is available with the option of LED headlamps for both dipped and main beam and the rear bench seat back can be split 60:40. With the increased size, the boot volume of the new MINI has also been increased by more than 30 per cent to 211-litres. The new instrument cluster now features more functionality. The vehicle gets the 4-inline TFT display as standard or buyers can choose an optional colour screen up to 8.8-inches. It shows the vehicle functions, infotainment, navigation and MINI connected services.
