Highlights of the new updated model will include the introduction of a 100 PS 1.5-liter TDCi diesel variant. The engine will be carried forward from its current application in models like the Ford Aspire and Ford Figo. This particular powerplant claims an ARAI fuel efficiency of 25.83 km/l but we believe the performance of the unit will be affected with considerable increase in weight. The 1.0-liter, 3 cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine will continue to find its application in the model update. The 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol variant will be made available with a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission.

In terms of safety upgrades, Ford might offer dual-front airbags as standard in the base variant, as it will be easy because Aspire gets the same treatment. Other features that make their way into the new EcoSport from Aspire and Figo include, 4 inch digital color display and the SYNC infotainment system. A reverse parking camera and satellite navigation system, which currently comes as an option for the Aspire will also find its application in the new EcoSport. Further updates will include redesigned power window controls, handbrake lever and chrome garnish.
