The world knows by now that if you are selling cars in India, the most important car in the portfolio has to be the compact SUV. While most manufacturers were cashing in on this frenzy, Honda seemed to be missing out on the action. Low and behold, you now have the Honda BR-V. While you can read about our extensive first drive here, let us try and help you in deciding which variant of the BR-V would best suit you. Now, the BR-V comes with a petrol and a diesel engine, but the features remain identical in both the petrol and diesel variants.
E variant
Petrol – Rs 8,75,000 | Diesel – Rs 9,90,000
This is the base variant of the BR-V. For those on a tight budget and need to get their hands on the BR-V, the E variant is the one to buy. The best bit about Honda is that they do not compromise on safety and even the base variants get dual front SRS airbags. However, antilock braking system (ABS) and electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) are only available in the base diesel and not the petrol. Another good add-on in the base variant is the pair of projector headlamps, which are often omitted in the base variants. Here’s a list of features in the E variant.
- Front Dual SRS Airbags
- ABS With EBD (Only Diesel)
- Projector Headlamps
- LED Tail Light Guide
- Chrome Front Grill & Rear Chrome Garnish
- Roof Rails
- Body Color Door Mirror & Door Handles
- Adjustable Headrests (All 3 rows)
- 2nd Row 60:40 Split Seats with Recline
- 3rd Row 50:50 Split Seats with Recline
- Digital AC Controls
- Eco Lamp
- Front and Rear Power Window
- Tilt Steering
S variant

The S variant gets quite a few features over the base E variant. Over and above the features listed for the E variant, the S variant gets added convenience features like a 2 DIN integrated audio unit with USB and AUX, which also gets Bluetooth connectivity for a hands free phone operation. Important features include steering mounted controls, auto AC and inclusion of ABS along with EBD for both the petrol and the diesel S variants. Below are all the features of the S variant.

The V variants jump the prices by a lakh over the S models. Importantly, if you need to buy an automatic, you will have to consider the V petrol only. Apart from that you get push button start, a multi-information display and alloy wheels to name a few. Other than that, here’s the entire list of features in the V model.
- Push Start With Smart Entry

- Paddle Shift (CVT Only)

VX variant
Petrol – Rs. 11,84,000 | Diesel – Rs. 12,90,000
This is the top of the line variant. While the important functional features are covered in the S and V variants, the VX variant is all about luxury and feel. For instance, you get leather on the seats, steering wheel, gear knob and armrest. You also get a heat-absorbing windshield amongst the other features listed below.
- LED Position Lamps
- Leather Seats
- Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
- Leather Gear Shift Knob
- Leather Pad on Door Armrest
- Front and Rear Bumper Lower Garnish
- Chrome Side Protector
- Heat Absorbing Windshield
- Front Power Window Auto Up (Driver)
While all the variants offer a little more over each other, we think the it’s a good toss up between the S and V variant, considering they offer all the important and functional features that you will need from the BR-V. Of course, if top-of-the-line is the way to go, you always have the VX. Given a choice, the S is our pick of the lot.
