Finally, the day has come as Honda will be launching its most anticipated premium hatch Jazz tomorrow on 8th July. Dealers have started taking advance booking at an upfront payment of Rs 21,000 and if media reports are to be believed, the company has already booked 2,336 units of Jazz. Learning from past mistakes, the automaker this time has brought in its fuel efficient 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine along with the potent 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine.

The exterior and more likely the front profile of Jazz will remind you of its bigger sibling City though necessary steps are taken to make it look a bit different. The thick black grille is elegantly garnished by a chrome lining. The swept back headlamps and honeycomb pattern on the lower air dam adds more to the style quotient. The side profile too is inspired from the City while the rear gets LED taillamp cluster and reflective elements between the C-pillar and the windshield.

The interior of Jazz does give you an upmarket feel. The top model will offer all-black interiors with silver inserts. It also features a 15.7 cm touchscreen infotainment borrowed from the Honda City offering satellite-based voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation along with Bluetooth and audio streaming, and DVD/CD playback. Moreover, the car also gets 'Magic Seats' and automatic AC with same City’s touch panel control.
Under the hood, the hatch gets 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine giving an output of 100PS and torque of 200Nm. Also like in its bigger sibling, the engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The petrol model gets 1.2-litre i-VTEC unit kicking out 90 PS with 110 Nm of peak torque. In petrol, the automaker is offering a choice of a 5-speed manual and an automatic CVT transmission.
