Hyundai Elantra Touches 10 Million Global Sales

Hyundai Elantra commonly known as Avante in international markets has bagged another achievement of reaching 10 million sales. Launched way back in 1990,  Elantra is Hyundai’s first model to reach the 10 million figure. The company sold the Elantra on an average of 4,20,000 units a year which further breaks to 1,100 units a day. 

In United States, Hyundai Elantra won the prestigious North American Car of the Year award in 2012. In the U.S, Elantra is Hyundai’s major sales churner that has helped the South Korean to set sales records in the past four years.

Bob Pradzinski, Vice President of National Sales, Hyundai Motor America said, “Reaching this historic mark is a testament to Elantra’s staying power and the global appeal of a vehicle that delivers design, functionality and performance. As a company it also shows our ability to quickly adapt to changing consumer preferences and continue to push the compact car segment with features once reserved for luxury vehicles.”

In India, Hyundai Elantra petrol model starts at Rs 12.92 lac while the diesel is offered at Rs 13.37 lac (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The petrol variant houses 1.8-litre Dual VTVT engine which churns a max power of 147.5bhp @ 6500 rpm while the diesel model gets 1.6-litre CRDi with Variable Geometry Turbochargers (VGT) and delivers an unprecedented power of 126bhp @ 4000rpm. Both petrol and diesel models are offered with six speed manual and six speed automatic transmission.
