Hyundai's latest take on the market capturer Maruti Suzuki Celerio, is the offering of 1.0-litre engine in its new entrant Eon Magna+. However, the auto-maker will also continue with the smaller engine of 0.8-litre on all the other Eon variants. So, is it a desperate attempt from Hyundai to create magic in sales chart or is just a call of necessity to bring a peppier engine in current times. In order to provide a clear image of which car has an edge over the other, we did a brief comparison of Hyundai Eon Magna+, Celerio and Datsun Go. Also read our comparison on Datsun Go v/s Hyundai Eon v/s Alto K10.
Exterior Design:
Hyundai Eon features a compact body design with stylish body lines across the side profile. The front fascia gets an aerodynamic stature with a trendy bumper while the rear profile shows a larger bumper and distinctly structured taillamp cluster.
The Datsun GO front sports honeycomb grill and creatively designed headlamp cluster that extends towards the side profile. Go rear gets body coloured bumper while the company logo is embarked just below the rear windscreen. Whereas, the Celerio gets a flowing back shaped headlamp cluster and larger air dam with horizontal bars merging with the grill. From the rear, the hatch reminds much of A-Star as it gets similar tail lamp design and rear windscreen proportion.

Interior and Features:
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has an edge over its competitors as it gets beige and brown colour interior design, bluetooth enabled music system with steering mounted audio controls. The seats are wide and comfortable with ample knee and legroom.
Hyundai Eon comes next and it gets dual tone interior design in beige and brown colour, 2 Din audio system with USB and AUX connectivity, child safety rear door lock, central locking and engine immobilizer. While last in the line is the Datsun Go. It features speed sensitive electric power steering, a universal mobile docking station with charger, AUX-in socket, USB port as well as an amplifier.
Engine and Power:
Maruti Celerio is powered by the K-Next petrol motor that is slightly altered form of K10 engine found in the Alto K10. This 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder mill is capable of delivering max power of 67bhp and peak torque of 90Nm. The car is matted to a five speed manual and is India's first and only automated manual transmission as of now.
The Eon on the other hand, gets a new kappa powerplant, the 1.0 liter Kappa engine which musters 68bhp and a max torque of 94Nm. The Eon is matted to a five speed manual. Datsun Go sources petrol powertrain from the Micra, the 1.2 liter engine produces 67bhp of maximum power and the torque figures max out at 104Nm.
Verdict:
Maruti Suzuki seems to be the clever pick as being a Maruti car, the hatch has a low maintenance cost with greater brand value. The car also features AMT gearbox which give a hassle free drive. However, the Hyundai Eon Magna+ may also prove to be a decent pick, especially for those looking for some great power and refined engine. Lastly, Datsun Go lacks certain features such as mp3 music system, rear power windows, glove box (closed),etc and thus could find it difficult to lure the graduating Indian car enthusiast.
