Isuzu will introduce a new pick-up truck at the upcoming Auto Expo in February. This will be a pick-up that will be placed between commercial vehicles segment and premium private pick-ups buyers. The company has just finalised the land for its new plant in Sri City in Andhra Pradesh and the company's this new plant as a joint venture with Mitsubishi, in a partnership ratio of 62:38. The plant will be ready by 2016 and it's initial plant production capacity will be 60,000 units. Soon, this capacity will be bumped up to 120,000 units.
Till the time the company sets up the plant, it will have 60 dealerships across the country by then. It will open three more dealerships in India, which will be again in South India. There will also be dealerships in the North and West beginning with Delhi and Mumbai.
At the moment, the company is assembling its SUV and pick-ups in Hindustan Motors Tamil Nadu plant. As of now, there is the MU7 and the D-Max single and double cab range that makes the Isuzu portfolio. The company will focus on the premium segment in pick-ups and SUVs. When asked about the plan for compact SUV, the company declined this, suggesting that the Japanese manufacturer is not looking at this segment as of now.
