Mahindra was the first manufacturer to be ready with the automated manual transmission that has been launched in the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. This new transmission is basically the brain for shifting, which means no clutch is required. The Quanto will be the first vehicle in its segment to get this transmission.
Mahindra Quanto is a compact SUV, and it is the only one with a ladder-frame and rear-wheel drive. The Quanto AMT was showcased at the Auto Expo in February and we expect Mahindra to introduce the Quanto with this transmission.
The Quanto might also get some other upgrades too, sometime this year. Also expect the AMT to come in the Mahindra Verito and the Verito Vibe. The Quanto will get a five-speed automated manual transmission. There are several car buyers who are looking for clutch-free driving in an SUV and this could be the vehicle that Mahindra could capitalise the market with. The Quanto is compact and this makes it a perfect city vehicle. High ground clearance, easy to park, seven-seater, no clutch and even good space too. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is a newly developed engine and is efficient and yet powerful. This makes the Quanto a good buy for city usage.
