Shortly after commencing production in India, the YRA will be launching on October 26 in the country. The time is near when the Elite i20 will have to work hard for its money as the assassin is on its way. The car was recently revealed in the Frankfurt Auto Show.
Maruti’s new hatchback features a 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine which produces 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. In the diesel department, the car will feature a 1.3-litre DDiS200 engine with an output of 90bhp and 200Nm of torque. In the future, the car might also feature the 1.0-litre turbocharged BoosterJet petrol engine which produces 92bhp and 170Nm of torque and is currently employed in the European models. All the engines are said to feature Suzuki’s new SHVS technology for engine start-stop functions and a higher mileage.
The car will be a sub-4 meter hatchback in India and is based on an all-new platform from Maruti Suzuki. Also, it will be the first hatchback in the country to feature hybrid technology. The car is also spacious with 355 litres of boot space, which is the largest in the segment and also features a touch screen AVN system like the S Cross and Ciaz. In the looks department, the hatchback is based on Suzuki’s new design philosophy with swept back headlamps, the big aggressive V shaped front grill with V-shaped chrome line at the bottom and a partial floating roof. The car sits 170mm above the ground which is the same as the Elite i20. The car will most likely be sold from the NEXA line of showrooms and is expected to cost between Rs 5.5 to 8.5 Lac and will rival the Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.
