Maruti Suzuki's much-awaited Ciaz has finally made its way to the Indian market at a starting price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh. Launched as a replacement for the not-so-successful SX4, the new sedan marks Maruti's another attempt in the C-Segment. The Ciaz competes against the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Ford Fiesta, VW Vento and Skoda Rapid.
Carrying the same engine options as the carmaker's Ertiga MPV, the Ciaz's diesel variants comes equipped with the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre-DDiS diesel mill that churns out 90PS and peak torque of 200Nm, while the petrol variants now comes packed with 1.4-litre K-series petrol unit, rated at 92PS and 130Nm of max. torque, ditching the earlier 1.6-litre motor of SX4. The petrol Ciaz has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.7 kmpl whereas the diesel variants delivers the segment-best 26.2 kmpl. The new sedan has been offered in seven body shades and four trims- V, V+, Z and Z+.
Maruti has loaded Ciaz with bundle of features and equipments, including first-in-class projector headlamps, new 16 inch alloy wheels in the top-end trim, while the regular variants will sport 15 inchers, key-less entry, window blinds, a touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking camera, climate control, ABS and two airbags, rear AC vents, push button stop-start system and many more.
