India’s largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall on 69,555 vehicles, manufactured during 8th March 2010 and 11th August 2013. To a surprise, all the recalled vehicles are diesel models and out of which 55,938 units are of old Swift Dzire while 12,486 units are of old Swift and 1,131 units of Ritz. According to the company the recall is done to inspect and repair the wiring harness fitment. Apart from the above mentioned cars, no other models will be affected by this recall.

The concerned customers will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki dealers through emails and phone calls. At the authorised Maruti Suzuki workshop, trained technicians will inspect the wiring harness fitment issue and if necessary will repair the fault free of cost. One can also check if their car (Old Swift, Old Swift Dzire and Ritz) are under recall by simply checking the manufacturer's website www.marutisuzuki.com where the customers  are asked to fill in the chassis number (MA3 or MBH followed by 14 digit alpha-numeric number) on the computer screen.

The chassis number is embossed on the vehicle ID plate and is also in the vehicle invoice/ registration documents. Customers may also contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer workshop to ascertain if their car is among the above vehicles.

If our readers remember, this is the second time when Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall this year after the one in April when the automaker recalled 1 lakh units of Swift, Ertiga and DZire. Moreover for the month of August, the carmaker sold 1,10,776 units as compared to 87,323 units in the August 2013.
