Maruti Suzuki records 13.3 % growth in December 2014

India’s largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) registers 13 per cent growth in the last month of 2014. In the domestic market, company has sold 98,109 units in December 2014 compared to 90,924 units in the same period last year. As per the export figures, MSI shipped 11,682 vehicle last month.

The year end enticing offers and uncertainty on the excise duty relaxation, has led to increased sales last month for almost every automaker. Talking about Maruti, the company has several fresh product this year and along with the high volume gainers, Maruti managed do what it do best - sales!

MSI had also introduced AMT (Automated-Manual-Gearshift aka Maruti’s AGS - Auto Gear Shift) this year and currently Celerio and new Alto K10 offers it. And Wagon R Stingray is reportedly the next product to get AGS soon. Furthermore, MSI also revived its footprints in the mid-size sedan segment with Ciaz and gave a subtle refresh to India’s largest selling premium hatch - Swift.

Speaking of the individual sales, MSI sold 3731 units of Ciaz last month registering 1276.8 per cent growth compared to December 2013 SX4’s miniscule sales. The combined sales of Swift, Ritz, Dzire and Celerio also witnessed a growth of 23.0% last month while Alto clan (800 and K10) and Wagon-R registered a decline of 9.6 per cent. Moreover, the utility segment which comprises Ertiga, Gypsy and Grand Vitara, recorded 12.2 per cent growth while in the van space - Omni and Eeco combined saw 29.6 per cent grow last month.
