Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported 13.8 percent year-on-year sales growth in May 2015. County’s leading automaker retailed 1,14,825 units during the month, comprising of 1,02,359 units in the domestic market and 12,466 exports. This performance comes on the back of the 27 percent jump in April at 1,00,709 units.
The mini segment that includes Alto and WagonR witnessed a growth of over 20 per cent during the month and stood at 35,062 units, compared to 29,068 units sold in May 2014. Sales of the compact segment which has Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Dzire witnessed a nearly 6 percent fall in sales at 41,926 units, as against 44,455 units in May last year. While the DZire taxi avatar ‘Tour’ jumped to 3190 units, up from 892 units in May 2014, posting a whopping growth of 257.6 percent.
The mid-sized segment registered the highest year-on-year growth during the month at over 4,000 percent. This was achieved riding on the back of the Ciaz sedan and stood at 5012 units, compared to 121 units of SX4 sedan in May 2014. The utility vehicles segment that includes Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga also grew marginally to 5,567 units in May, up from 5253 units in the corresponding month last year. A total of 11,602 units of Omni and Eeco were delivered last month, as against 10,771 units in May 2014.
