Maruti Suzuki to Hike Prices

Country’s largest car maker will increase the prices in the range of 2-4 % across the range, effective Jan 2015! 

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) will increase prices of its entire lineup from January 2015. The country’s largest automaker has the widest portfolio and will see a hike in the range of 2-4 per cent effective next month. MSI sells starting from Alto 800 which is retailed at Rs. 2.37 lac to the flagship product Grand Vitara which costs Rs. 24.6 lac (All Ex-Showroom, New Delhi).


R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Commenting on the price hike, "We are planning to increase the prices in the range of 2-4 per cent across our entire range of products from January. It was in October 2013 that we had taken our last price hike." 

"We have been absorbing the impact of higher input costs for quite some time now but we did not hike the prices because the market was not doing well," he further added.

Yesterday, Maruti’s biggest rival, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) has also announced that they will also increase the prices across the range from Santro to Santa-Fe in the range of  Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000 stating January 2015. Moreover, BMW and General Motors India has also earlier announced that they will increase the prices of their lineup from next month. Mahindra and Tata motors has also declared the same last month.
