Maruti Suzuki unveils its all-new mid-size sedan at the Delhi Auto Expo'14, codenamed YL1 sedan, which has replaced the current generation SX-4 in the market. The all-new YL1 sedan is expected to launch during festive season, which would return good sales at that time. This particular sedan has not really worked well in terms of sales for the company, but it does bound potential to do well with the all-new version of it.
The sedan is based on Maruti Ertiga's platform, and the styling cues are inspired from the Suzuki Authentics Concept previewed at the Shanghai Motor Show'13. The sedan has been made available with both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol version gets the same Ertiga's 1.4-litre K2 petrol engine, while the diesel features 1.3-litre DDiS mill. Both the engines are combined to five speed manual gearbox, and also features an automatic version of the sedan.
As far as interiors are concerned, the new SX-4 gets insides resembles quite to that of Maruti Swift and Ertiga again. The exteriors are certainly edgy and sporty to lure young buyers. The front looks quite aggressive with the extended headlamps and the prominent grille shining right at the front. The sedan has been raised from the ground levels thereby increasing the overall height, which also enables to get more ground clearance. These two modifications certainly makes the sedan suit perfectly for Indian road conditions.
(As it is seen across various other models of Maruti Suzuki, the YL1 sedan too comes in six different variants- LXi, LDi, VXi, VDi, ZXi and ZDi. The top variants sports automatic climate control, sunglasses holder, ABS+EBD, twin airbags, 16 inch alloy wheels, stereo system with USB and Bluetooth funcitons, chromed door handles, wood trim over the dash and many of these sorts. While projector headlamps is standard across all variants. )
