Mercedes-Benz has just launched the much-awaited new C-Class in India. Priced between INR 40.90 lac (ex-showroom Delhi), the luxury sedan competes against the likes of Audi A4 and BMW 3-Series.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Based on the German car manufacturer’s latest design language, the new C-Class gets a more sculpted and elegant look. Its front fascia now features a long hood that merges into the twin-slat grille with the three-pointed star at the centre, along with new LED head-lamps, a low stance and short front overhangs. While its rear, is a complete imitation of its eldest sibling- the S-Class.

The new luxury sedan is pinned on the company's new lightweight modular rear-drive MRA (Mercedes Rear-drive Architecture) platform, and is now 95mm longer and 40mm wider than its predecessor, whereas its height is reduced by 5mm. The sedan now measures 4686mm in length, 1810mm in width and 1442mm in height.

The new C-Class has been launched only in a petrol avatar, while the diesel version will be launched later. The launched model comes equipped with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine, rated at 181bhp and 300Nm. The power unit comes mated to a new 7-speed automatic transmission (7G-TRONIC Plus), transferring power to the rear wheels.
