American auto major Ford that revealed the next generation Figo as the Ka Concept in Brazil, has finally unveiled the hatchback at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Codenamed B562, new Ford Ka/Figo is the company's global small car, which is expected to make its India debut by the end of this year or by early 2015.
The new Figo is based on the Mk5 Fiesta platform, which currently underpins the Figo hatchback. This model will replace the Figo in India as well as other markets. The Figo hatchback was Ford's top selling car until the launch of EcoSport in India and the company will surely be aiming to further enhance its numbers. It will be manufactured at Ford's new Sanand facility in Gujarat.
The 2015 Ford Figo gets updates both inside and out. It now feature the company's new family look. Like new generation Fiesta, the front grill of new Figo looks similar to Aston Martins. It share most of its design cues like LED headlamps, bumpers and others with Mondeo, Focus and the Fiesta. The roofline headed towards the trunck lid and pronounced lines create a sense of dynamism. The rear end of the car feature a spoiler and a large tailamps.
Ford Ka/Figo is expected to be powered by the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine that churns out a maximum power output of 79bhp. The diesel Figo will derive its power from the 1.5-litre TDCI turbo diesel engine. The engines wll be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
