A test mule of the upcoming long-wheelbase version of the new Jaguar XF sedan has been spied during testing. The luxury sedan was spotted making its rounds at the Nurburgring and by the looks of it, the car doesn’t look any different than the standard XF. The car features a longer wheelbase, which would probably translate into a roomier rear cabin that may enhance the luxury and creature comforts aspects of the saloon. The longer wheelbase also means that the rear door is slightly longer than that of the standard XF. The test mule was seen flaunting a blacked out rear windows and windshield. There are no confirmations pertaining to the rear cabin updates.

Another translation of the longer wheelbase would be additional space behind the B-pillar, which would mean the rear passengers will be treated to extra legroom that will come as a courtesy of the increased rear cabin space. The car will be at least a few inches longer than the current, standard Jaguar XF and XF L variants, but there are no precise confirmation pertaining to exactly how much longer the upcoming car would be, in comparison to these current models. The increased cabin space might not come as all good news because the car may continue to feature JLR’s new 2.0-litre Ingenium and 3.0-litre V6 petrol and diesel mills, which presently find their application in the XF L and standard XF car models and might mean a diminished power-to-weight ratio in lieu of mechanical updates. This particular model is probably aimed at the chinese market as many carmakers inclusive of Tesla, Audi etc, find substantial market shares in the country and the new XF L might be a bid to curb the demand exuded by the chinese customer base, which is partial to cars with substantial rear cabin space. Jaguar will showcase the car next year at Beijing motor.
