Nissan’s Safety Shield technologies have won the ‘Safety Award’ category at this year’s Auto Express awards held in London, UK. Nissan's innovative Safety Shield is available on the company’s international models, which comprise up to seven advanced technologies to set new standards for accident avoidance and protection for mainstream car buyers. These technologies include Driver Attention Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Moving Object Detection and High Beam Assist.
Nissan's Safety Shield technologies instil a sense of safety and security to the driver and occupants of Nissan vehicles. Features that were previously present on much more expensive cars have been made more accessible to a range of affordable cars, with some clever thinking and super advanced gadgets. Accompanying the Safety Shield's top prize, was the all new Nissan Qashqai praised for its overall quality along with its extensive list of advanced technology and safety features and awarded the Best Crossover honour.
Andy Palmer, Nissan's Chief Planning Officer, states "Nissan has a history of democratising technology, bringing features from luxury cars to the mass market. We believe this is especially important when safety is involved and I'm delighted our efforts have been recognized by Auto Express. Safety Shield is an important step towards Nissan's goal of achieving ‘zero fatalities' in vehicles with the help of technology." Nissan recently launched the Sunny which came with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist as standard across all variants along with the driver side airbag. Keen customers could also opt for passenger and side airbags on their Sunny as an added safety concern. And these options are available on not a very expensive model, but on an affordable B+ segment car. This shows Nissan’s commitment to the safety of occupants.
