If word on the street is to be believed then Datsun's second product, the Go+, is set to make its way to the Indian market on January 15th. The latest offering is country's first-of-its-kind sub-4 metre compact MPV, which is more-or-less a large five-seater hatchback with a flexible third row, best suited for children or your dog.
The GO+ measures 3,995mm in length, 1,635mm in width and 1,490mm in height, along a wheelbase of 2,450mm. With a good 170 mm ground clearance, the compact MPV would be able to negotiate well with the patchy Indian roads. While its 4.6-metre turning radius, will prove out to be a boon in crowded areas. The Go+ comes equipped with the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol mill that already powers the younger sibling- Go hatchback. The engine is good for a maximum power of 67 bhp at 5,000 rpm, along with 104 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm, coupled to five-speed manual gearbox, and claims an impressive ARAI mileage of 20.62 km/l.
Following the equipment levels of its hatchback sibling, only range-topping 'T' variant of Go+ gets power steering as well as other features, such as manual central locking, wheel covers, body colored bumpers, front power windows and HVAC system. While the safety still remains under doubts, the compact MPV also strives for such features, concluding into no air bags and no anti-skid braking system (ABS) or Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), even as optional.
Since the Go+ enjoy the excise benefits due to its compact size (sub-4 metre), its very much expected that it will be priced between INR 3.7 lacs and INR 4.2 lacs.
