After a lot of speculations about its launch date, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. has finally confirmed that the updated Verna will reach the dealerships on February 18th. Already being sold in the Russian market as ‘Solaris,’ the facelifted model will feature the South Korean carmaker’s in-trend Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, as seen on the new-gen Sonata.
Since its inception in 2011, Verna has always stood among the top-selling models from Hyundai’s product portfolio in the country. But with the growing competition, especially after the arrival of Honda City Diesel and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the sedan somewhere lost its pace, and this refreshment comes as an attempt to regain its diminishing charm back.
The updated model will flaunt a redesigned front fascia, featuring a new twin-slat grille, elongated headlamps with projector lights. It will also get a redesigned bumper with a new set of fog lamps sporting Daytime Running Lamps. The side profile of the car remains same and the only change is the new 16-inch alloy wheels, which looks better than before. While the rear end will receive LED inserts to the tail-lamp clusters, updated bumper and integrated reflectors.
Except a new touchscreen-based infotainment system, the interior on the updated Verna sedan is likely to remain the same. Under the hood, there aren't likely to be too many changes and will continue to be propelled with the same engines, namely the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units in India.
