Frankfurt Motor Show is about to kickstart, and car manufacturers are doing their final preparations to make this year's event a memorable one. The French automaker, Peugeot has announced its lineup to be showcased at the show, which includes the company's latest design model - the new Peugeot 308. Alongside the compact family hatchback, the firm will also premiere the 308 R Concept. The other interesting exhibits include the new 'BlueHDi' models, Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Car, the Nurburgring 24hr endurance class-winning 208 GTi and the company's environmental free hybrid products.
New PEUGEOT 308
The all-new Peugeot 308 hatchback is the show-stopper for the French automaker at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the company will present nine examples of the five-door range for visitors to see. The vehicle is built around the all-new Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) architecture, which makes it the lightest model in its segment. The technologically-advanced interior of the new Peugeot 308 is a true stand-out feature, with its striking features such as Peugeot i-Cockpit, a minimalist design inspired by the Peugeot SR1 Concept, compact steering wheel, an elevated instrument panel, a high centre console and a 9.7" touch-screen.
The new Peugeot 308 also features various driving aids such as Blind Spot Monitoring, Dynamic Cruise Control, Emergency Collision Alert System and Emergency Collision Braking System. Full LED headlamps – a new feature for the C-segment – are standard on the higher trim level models. The vehicle will be available in all five petrol and HDi diesel engines. The new Peugeot 308 is built at the Sochaux factory and goes on sale in the UK in January 2014.

PEUGEOT 308 R Concept
The company will also make its World debut is the '308 R Concept', a radical sports show car which puts a new spin on the stylistic purity and identity of the new 308 production car. The vehicle has lowered posture, wider track and prominent haunches, sporting 19 inch wheels. Its carbonfibre two-tone skin conceals the engine of the RCZ R – a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing a considerable 270bhp. To exploit its full potential, the 308 R Concept has front-wheel drive transmission through a TorsenTM differential and very large brakes.
PEUGEOT BlueHDi engines
BlueHDi engines are the company's commitment to provide environmental friendly vehicles. This has been driven by on-going optimisation of internal combustion engines, through improved efficiency, downsizing and technologies like Stop & Start and diesel-electric hybrids. The introduction of new generation engines like the family of 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engines has also played a key role.
In Frankfurt, PEUGEOT is exhibiting its new BlueHDi diesel emissions control technology on the new 308 and 508 SW. Combining ‘Selective Catalytic Reduction’ (SCR) and diesel Particulate Filtration with additive (FAP), this reduces NOx emissions by up to 90% to optimise CO2 emissions and fuel economy while eliminating 99.9% of particulates. PEUGEOT’s BlueHDi technology already complies with the Euro 6 diesel standards and will be extended from the end of 2013 to all of the marque’s diesel models.
PEUGEOT’s environmental commitment
The Brand’s acclaimed HYbrid4 diesel-electric hybrid products are displayed with two innovative hybrid vehicles that will greatly affect cars of the future – the 208 HYbrid FE ‘demonstrator’ and the 2008 HYbrid Air Concept. The line-up is completed with the flagship RCZ R Sports Coupé due on sale early in 2014, and the beautiful and creative Onyx Supercar Concept.
