Tata Bolt, company’s second most important release in order to strengthen its position in Indian auto sector, will be launched tomorrow. The car made its debut in the country at the Indian auto expo last year where it shared its stage with Zest, the compact sedan which was launched in August 2014. Based on the Tata’s new design language 'DESIGNEXT', the hatch will lock horns with segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.
The exterior of the hatch features new bold front grille, stretched headlamp units with projector lamps and a new sporty front bumper. While at the rear, Bolt gets compact and modern looking tail lamps along with floating rear spoiler. Adding character to the hatch are ORVMs with side blinker and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the cabin, Bolt embraces 5-inch Harman touch screen infotainment system which offers features like video playback from SD card, Aux-in and USB support, smart phone based navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, in-built HVAC controls, and smartphone integration.
The hatch will be available in both the fuel trims. The petrol model gets 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged MPFi engine which delivers a max output of 88.8bhp and peak torque of 140Nm. It is mated to five speed manual transmission. While the diesel model gets Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multi-Jet diesel engine dubbed as Quadrajet. This diesel engine churns a max power of 75bhp and torque of 190 Nm. Like Zest, Bolt also gets multi drive modes - City (default), Eco and Sport.
