India's most affordable car Nano was yesterday unveiled in an all new avatar as new probable Delhi Police emergency response vehicle to cater to children and women in distress. A white colour painted Nano having Delhi Police logos, were uncovered by Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami who inaugurated 'India International Security Expo' at Pragati Maidan. The Security Expo will run for four-days, starting from yesterday.
The Nano has been displayed as a potential Police Control Room (PCR) vehicle, which can be driven by lady police drivers to rescue women and children in Delhi.
Monty Singh from 'Grand'- a security firm, which has launched the car said, "We have just launched a concept of using the small car for emergency response instead of the big PCR vehicles being used at present by Delhi Police. We would want the police and other agencies tasked for exigency duties to have a look and see if this fits their bill."
He further said that the Nano has been picked as the right model for this launch, as the theme for this year's security fair is 'Made in India' and Nano is a thorough-bred Indian car. The customised Nano is equipped with medical gadgets and other first aid accessories, so to pick an injured to a safer location in quick time. The car has also been fitted with a vertical red-blue traditional police beacon, a blaring siren and search lights.
After inspecting the car, Mr. Goswami said, "It is good that indigenous efforts are being made in the security gadgets and devices domain in the country. I will ask officials in the paramilitary and police forces to see whatever this exhibition offers and explore if they need something for their use." He also drove the car.
