Toyota launches the Camry hybrid, Frankfurt Motor Show a week away

Toyota has just launched the Camry hybrid and it has priced it aggressively at Rs 29.75 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle comes loaded with so many features and many of these aren’t even available on the regular Camry. Toyota has pulled it off well and this is also the first hybrid vehicle that is assembled in India. The GL-Class is now assembled in India and this has helped Mercedes-Benz to reduce the cost by a good Rs 8-9lakhs. The company rolled out the first GL-Class this week from its Chakan plant. Nissan and Hyundai dealers have started taking pre-bookings for the Terrano and the Grand i10 respectively. We also speak to the Fiat Caffe owner in Bengaluru and to the Product head of Nissan India for their company’s respective plans. Toyota Kirloskar Motor launches New Camry Hybrid Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today launched India’s first ever locally manufactured hybrid - The All New Camry Hybrid. The vehicle will be manufactured at a separate assembly line within TKM’s second plant located in Bidadi, near Bangalore, in Karnataka. Globally India is the 9th country to manufacture Toyota hybrid vehicles. The petrol Camry, the legendary cornerstone of Toyota brand, was first introduced in 2002, in India. In 2012, TKM began locally manufacturing the petrol Camry. Like its petrol counterpart, the New Camry hybrid is based on the 7th generation of the Camry. Nissan’s global team designed the Terrano With the launch of Nissan Terrano inching closer, we got an opportunity to speak to Mr Chikuya Takada and learn more from him about this new upcoming SUV. Hyundai updated Verna Sedan The South Korean automaker, Hyundai India has silently updated its flagship sedan, Verna. The Verna with small updates are now available at the all the company's dealership across the nation. Hyundai has mostly updated the car's functional designs to further enhance the functionalities of the vehicle. Nissan Dealers start taking pre-orders for Terrano Japanese auto maker Nissan that officially unveiled the much awaited compact SUV Terrano on August 20th in India, is now all set to launch the vehicle by September end or early October. Although the official bookings are likely to start only early next month, Nissan dealers across the country have started taking pre-orders on their own. We spoke to a few dealers in Delhi, who are taking a sum of Rs. 51,000 to get the car booked. And when we spoke to our trusted sources about the pricing, they hinted at a starting price of Rs. 8.50 lakh for the entry level variant. Volkswagen may unveil Taigun compact SUV at Frankfurt Motor Show? Last year, the German auto major Volkswagen had unveiled its first compact SUV concept, the Taigun at the Sao Paulo Motor Show. If rumors are to be believed, the production version of the Volkswagen's new small crossover will be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle will be launched in the Brazilian market by 2015-16. Tata Motors considering VW-MQB type Advanced Modular Platform The leading auto manufacturer, Tata Motors is working on a Volkswagen-like modular architecture strategy to develop a new range of passenger cars. The company aims to target the German giant and the other global giants, which are using the common platforms to develop their vehicles. Hyundai Grand i10 bookings open at dealer level India's second largest carmaker Hyundai Motors India has officially announced to launch the much anticipated Grand i10 in India on 3rd September, a week before its global debut at the 12th Frankfurt Motor Show, which is scheduled to start on 10th September. Hyundai will position the Grand i10 between the company's two top-selling hatchbacks i10 and i20. However, the company hasn't officially started the bookings of the car, several Hyundai dealers across the country have started taking pre-orders for the car. For instance in Delhi, we spoke to two different Hyundai dealers, who are taking a sum of Rs. 25,000- 40,000 to get the car booked. Whereas, a few Mumbai dealers too are taking pre-orders against the sum of Rs. 50,0000. Diesel prices to be hiked by Rs. 4-6 per litre The regular depreciation in Rupee value against Dollar has made imports costlier, which directly increases the prices of the essential products. As the rupee breaches to 68-mark against dollar, one more bad news is on the way for the car owners. The decline of Rupee and strengthening global oil prices, have increased India's crude oil import bills, hence it seems like the diesel and petrol prices are soon going to touch new heights.
