Toyota, the Japanese automaker has revealed new images and details of the Yaris Hybrid-R Concept, which is scheduled to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 10th September. This Hybrid-R Concept shows that how future hybrid technologies can maximize performance and driving pleasure.
The Hybrid-R Concept based on the three-door Yaris, and features a new 1.6-litre GRE (Global Race Engine) developed by Toyota Motorsport. The 1.6-litre petrol engine is combined with two powerful electric motors that give the car intelligent all-wheel drive capability.
Inspired by Toyota's TS030 Hybrid race car, energy recovered under braking is stored in a supercapacitor, a unit that's particularly suitable for use in a sports car thanks to its high power density ad quick charge and discharge speeds.

The petrol engine develops 300bhp, transmits power to the front wheels. Each wheel at the rear is powered by a 60bhp electric motor, making a combined power output to 420bhp. There is another 60bhp electric motor positioned between the engine and the six-speed transmission.
