The “ban” on registration of diesel cars in the National Capital dominated the headlines this week. Supreme Court followed on the path paved by National Green Tribunal and banned the registration of diesel cars having engine capacity of 2,000cc or more. Mahindra S101 Officially Announced, Called KUV1OO
Jaipur: Mahindra's latest entry in the Indian market has now been officially announced and is called KUV100. It is powered by an all-new family of engines called mFALCON. The petrol engine is mFALCON (BS-IV) G80 which produces 82 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and a max torque of 114 Nm. The diesel is called mFALCON D75 which produces 77 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. The development partners include Magnetti Marelli, which could mean the presence of an automatic transmission. Chevrolet Issues Recall of 1,01,597 Beat Units
Jaipur: Chevrolet India is recalling 1,01,597 units of Beat diesel hatchback. General Motors announced yesterday that the recall was due to an issue with the clutch pedal lever. Chevrolet Beat diesel manufactured between December 2010 and July 2014 are part of the recall and the company has started notifying owners of these cars. Customers can take their cars to any of Chevrolet’s 248 authorized service centers spread across India. They will inspect and if necessary, replace the clutch pedal lever free of charge. Skoda, Nissan and Datsun Announce Price Hike Up to 3% From 2016
Jaipur: Nissan, Datsun and Skoda will be increasing the cost of their products in the new year. The price hike will vary from 1 to 3 percent on different models. Nissan and Datsun products will cost between 1 per cent and 3 per cent more whereas Skoda cars will face a 2 to 3 percent hike. Previously, Maruti, Toyota, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and BMW had also announced a price hike from the year 2016. Most of the brands say that the price hike comes as a result of ‘rising input costs’. The new prices will take effect from January 1, 2016. This will result in a hike of Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 50,000 depending on the model and the variant. Cars that will be most affected by the Diesel Ban!
Delhi: National Green Tribunal (NGT) had stopped registrations of vehicles with diesel engines from December 11, 2015, to January 6, 2016. Extending the above ban, Supreme Court of India has issued an order which puts a ban on the sale of cars with a diesel engine capacity of 2-litres or more in NCR from January 1 for three months. Around 36 percent of cars sold in Delhi are powered by diesel engines whereas 90 percent of SUVs and utility vehicles run on diesel. Read More
Petrol and Diesel Prices Slashed by 50 paise and 46 paise Respectively
Jaipur: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have slashed the prices of petrol and diesel by 50 paise per litre and 46 paise per litre respectively. After the cut, petrol will cost Rs. 59.98 per litre and diesel will come at Rs. 46.09 per litre in Delhi. The decrease in prices comes as a result of fortnightly revision done by the companies to align the fuel prices in international and domestic market. Read More
