Agricultural stocks in demand

Shares of three agricultural firms rose by 0.34% to 16.28% at 11:40 IST on BSE after the finance minister today announced that the agriculture credit is seen surpassing the earlier estimates for the current fiscal.

Aries Agro (up 16.28%), Monsanto India (up 0.68%) and Jain Irrigation Systems (up 0.34%), edged higher.

However, Advanta India (down 1.65%) and Kaveri Seed Company (down 0.75%), edged lower.

In the interim budget for 2014-15 presented by the Finance Minister P. Chidambaram today, 17 February 2014, said that the agricultural credit was seen at Rs 7.35 lakh crore for the current fiscal year ending March 2014 (FY 2014), from the Rs 7 lakh crore aimed earlier for FY 2014.
