Alstom T&D India rose 3.85% to Rs 145.60 at 14:40 IST on BSE after the company said it won a Rs 105.50 crore order to supply transformers for NTPC's super thermal power project in Bihar.
The announcement was made during trading hours today, 21 October 2013.
Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 67.05 points, or 0.32%, to 20,815.84.
On BSE, 8,610 shares were traded in the counter compared with average volume of 8,654 shares in the past one quarter.
The stock hit a high of Rs 146.50 and a low of Rs 138.05 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 214.80 on 1 November 2012. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 110 on 6 August 2013.
The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 18 October 2013, sliding 3.08% compared with the Sensex's 4.61% rise. The scrip had also underperformed the market in past one quarter, falling 14.01% as against Sensex's 3.75% rise.

Alstom T&D India said it would supply a power transformer package for Nabinagar Power Generating Company's (NPGCL) super thermal power project located in Bihar in India. NPGCL is a joint venture between NTPC and the Bihar State Electricity Board. The project is part of a bulk tender which has been set up to accelerate the pace of thermal capacity addition in the country.
This order, worth approximately Rs 105.50 crore, covers the design, engineering, manufacture, supply, testing, erection and commissioning of generator transformers and associated power transformers and shunt reactor. All equipment will be manufactured by Alstom T&D India's transformer manufacturing and testing facility in Naini (Uttar Pradesh), the company said.

The Nabingar power transformer package is due to be delivered by October 2017, Alstom T&D India said in a statement.
Net profit of Alstom T&D India declined 34.61% to Rs 15.04 crore on 16.61% decline in net sales to Rs 559.56 crore in Q2 June 2013 over Q2 June 2012.
Alstom T&D India is a market leader in the Indian power transmission sector.
