Commercial vehicles maker Ashok Leyland jumped 5.44% to Rs 40.70 after the company announced during trading hours today, 9 September 2014, that it received orders for 4,000 buses worth Rs 1500 crore from state transport undertakings. The stock hit a high of Rs 41.30, which is also a record high for the counter. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.
State-run hydro-power utility NHPC galloped 5.14% to Rs 22.50. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Micro-irrigation products maker Jain Irrigation Systems rose 4.83% to Rs 93.40 on bargain hunting after the stock fell 7.38% in the preceding four trading sessions to Rs 89.10 on 8 September 2014, from a recent high of Rs 96.20 on 2 September 2014. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.
