Bank of India slumps after reverse turnaround in Q3

Bank of India lost 6.32% to Rs 135.70 at 11:52 IST on BSE after the bank reported net loss of Rs 2341.20 crore in Q3 December 2017, as compared with net profit of Rs 101.72 crore in Q3 December 2016.

The results were announced after market hours on Monday, 12 February 2018. Domestic stock markets had remained closed yesterday, 13 February 2018, on account of Mahashivratri.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 5.93 points, or 0.02% to 34,306.40

On the BSE, 6.91 lakh shares were traded in the counter so far, compared with average daily volumes of 3.44 lakh shares in the past one quarter. The stock had hit a high of Rs 141.50 and a low of Rs 134.30 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 216.70 on 17 November 2017. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 122.95 on 10 March 2017.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past 30 days till 12 February 2018, falling 11.24% compared with 0.84% fall in the Sensex. The scrip also underperformed the market in past one quarter, sliding 26.02% as against Sensex's 4.12% rise. The scrip also underperformed the market in past one year, advancing 12.59% as against Sensex's 20.98% rise.

The large-cap bank has an equity capital of Rs 1184.55 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Bank of India's total income fell 10.51% to Rs 10376.03 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016.

The bank's gross non-performing assets (NPAs) stood at Rs 64248.58 crore as on 31 December 2017 as against Rs 49306.90 crore as on 30 September 2017 and Rs 51781.06 crore as on 31 December 2016.

The ratio of gross NPAs to gross advances stood at 16.93% as on 31 December 2017 as against 12.62% as on 30 September 2017 and 13.38% as on 31 December 2016.

The ratio of net NPAs to net advances stood at 10.29% as on 31 December 2017 as against 6.47% as on 30 September 2017 and 7.09% as on 31 December 2016.

Provision coverage ratio of the bank was at 56.96% as on 31 December 2017.

The Government of India held 75.12% stake in Bank of India as per the shareholding pattern as on 31 December 2017.
