Biocon slips ex-dividend

Biocon fell 1.99% to Rs 475.60 at 10:09 IST on BSE on turning ex-dividend today, 9 April 2015, for interim dividend of Rs 5 per share for the year ended 31 March 2015.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 23.30 points, or 0.08%, to 28,684.45.

On BSE, so far 43,000 shares were traded in the counter, compared with an average volume of 92,056 shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 484.50 and a low of Rs 470.75 so far during the day. The stock hit a record high of Rs 553.70 on 4 July 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 402.45 on 7 January 2015.

The stock had outperformed the market over the past one month till 7 April 2015, rising 10.07% compared with 3.17% decline in the Sensex. The scrip had also outperformed the market in past one quarter, rising 18.14% as against Sensex's 5.97% rise.

The mid-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 100 crore. Face value per share is Rs 5.

Before turning ex-dividend, shares of Biocon offered a dividend yield of 1.03% based on the closing price of Rs 485.25 on Wednesday, 9 April 2015.

Biocon's consolidated net profit fell 13.4% to Rs 90.93 crore on 8.3% rise in total income to Rs 778.99 crore in Q3 December 2014 over Q3 December 2013.
