Net purchases of Rs 562.71 crore on 4 August 2016
The buying spree in the equity markets from foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) continues. FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 562.71 crore from the secondary equity market on 4 August 2016, compared with their purchases of Rs 629.14 crore during the preceding trading session on 3 August 2016. The net inflow of Rs 562.71 crore on 4 August 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4139.97 crore and gross sales of Rs 3577.26 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex rose 16.86 points or 0.06% to settle at 27,714.37, its highest closing level since 2 August 2016.
There was a net outflow of Rs 13.29 crore by FPIs from the category 'primary market & others' on 4 August 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.70 crore and gross sales of Rs 13.99 crore.
FPIs have bought stocks worth a net Rs 2603.92 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 4 August 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 12068.52 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 32908.80 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 4 August 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net outflow of Rs 313.91 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 4 August 2016). There was a net inflow of Rs 543.30 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 1159.80 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 4 August 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
