China Market falls as steelmakers tumble
Capital Market The Mainland China equity market closed down on Wednesday, 23 August 2017, weighed down by weakness in shares of iron and steel companies, non-ferrous metal providers and infrastructure firms amid tumbles in futures contracts from steel to coking coal offsetting a rise in banks ahead of earnings reports. The Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.08%, or 2.52 points, to 3,287.70. The CSI 300 Index of large companies edged up 0.1%, or 3.8 points, to 3,756.
