Core CPI inflation eases to 5.5% in November from 5.9% in October 2014
All-India general CPI inflation declined to 4.4% in November 2014 from 5.5% in October 2014, driven by a sharp decline in inflation for food articles. The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural area were 4.1% and urban area also 4.7% as against 5.5% and 5.6% for October 2014.The CPI inflation decline in November 2014 was mainly driven by fall in inflation for the food, beverages & tobacco group to 3.6% in November 2014 from 5.7% in October 2014. Inflation for fuel and light eased to 3.3%, while inflation for housing also declined to 7.9% in October 2014. Further, inflation for clothing, bedding and footwear eased to 7%. Inflation for miscellaneous items declined 4.3% in November 2014.
The core CPI inflation eased to 5.5% in November from 5.9% in October 2014.
