Currency In Circulation Rises 0.3% On Weekly Basis

The Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) reported that currency in circulation expanded by 0.3% on the week to stand at Rs 23.04 lakh crore as on 17 January 2020. The central bank noted further that the overall reserve money rose 0.50 on the week to Rs 29.26 lakh crore. Currency in circulation rose around 11.60% on a year ago basis compared to 19.1% surge at the same time last year. In the current fiscal, the currency in circulation has grown by 7.9% so far while the reserve money expanded by 5.6%.
