Currency In Circulation Slips Marginally On Weekly Basis

The Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) reported that currency in circulation slipped 0.4% on the week to stand at Rs 23.48 lakh crore as on 28th February 2020. The central bank noted further that the overall reserve money contracted on the week by 0.1% to Rs 29.74 lakh crore. Currency in circulation rose around 11.5% on a year ago basis compared to 17.7% jump at the same time last year. In the current fiscal, the currency in circulation has gained by 9.9% so far while the reserve money rose by 7.4%.
