The Society Of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), released the auto industry sales performance data for February 2020 and April-February 2020. The industry produced a total 1,646,332 vehicles including Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers and Quadricycle in February 2020, as against 2,034,597 in February 2019 with a degrowth of (-)18.14%. Commenting on the February data, Rajesh Menon, Director General, SIAM stated that Automobile industry continues to face hardship due to steeper decline in Production and Wholesale dispatches in all segments in February 2020.
Passenger Vehicles sales came in at 251,516 units in February 2020, compared to 272,243 units in February 2019 marking a decrease by (-) 7.61%. The Commercial Vehicles sales were 58,670 units in February 2020 compared to 87,436 units in February 2019 marking a decrease by (-) 32.90%. The Three-wheeler sales came in at 41,300 units in February 2020 compared to 59,875 units in February 2019 marking a drop by (-) 31.02%. Two-wheeler sales were 1,294,791 units in February 2020, compared to 1,614,941 units in February 2019 marking a decrease by (-) 19.82%.
In April - February 2020, the industry produced a total 20,498,128 vehicles including Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers and Quadricycle in April-February 2020 as against 24,358,082 in April February 2019 with a decline of (-)13.29%. Domestic Passenger Vehicles sales were 2,632,665 units in April-February 2020, compared to 3,085,528 units in April-February 2019, down by (-)14.68%. Domestic Commercial Vehicles sales was 704,661 units in April-February 2020 compared to 898,289 units in April-February 2019, down by (-)21.56%. Three-wheeler sales came in at 608,959 units in April-February 2020 compared to 634,731 units in April-February 2019, down by (-) 4.06%. Two-wheeler sales came in at 16,550,770 units in April-February 2020, compared to 19,739,254 units in April-February 2019, down by (-)16.15%
