FIIs turn sellers

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth net Rs 6.50 crore on Tuesday, 2 July 2013.

The net outflow of Rs 6.50 crore on Tuesday, 2 July 2013, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2331.90 crore and gross sales of Rs 2338.40 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 29 crore from the secondary equity markets on 2 July 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2302.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 2331.20 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had lost 113.57 points or 0.58% to settle at 19,463.82 on that day, its lowest closing level since 28 June 2013.

There was a net inflow of Rs 22.50 crore into the category 'primary market others' on Tuesday, 2 July 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 29.60 crore and gross sales of Rs 7.10 crore.

FIIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 73383.10 crore in 2013 so far (till 2 July 2013). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.

There are a total of 1,755 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India.
