Net inflow of Rs 1708.38 crore on 2 March 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 1708.38 crore on 2 March 2016, lower than net inflow of Rs 3017.25 crore on 1 March 2016. The net inflow of Rs 1708.38 crore from the secondary equity markets on 2 March 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5931.25 crore and gross sales of Rs 4222.87 crore. On that day, the Sensex jumped 463.63 points or 1.95% to settle at 24,242.98, its highest closing level since 8 February 2016.
There was an outflow of Rs 0.15 crore from the 'primary markets & others' category on 2 March 2016.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 3019.38 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 2 March 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 6069.31 crore into the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have offloaded shares worth a net Rs 13231.86 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 March 2016). FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4361.67 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net outflow of Rs 0.16 crore from FPIs from the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 2 March 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 547.92 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net outflow from FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 396.75 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 2 March 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22167.82 from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
