Net inflow of Rs 884.95 crore on 4 March 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 884.95 crore on 4 March 2016, lower than net inflow of Rs 1109.37 crore on 3 March 2016. The net inflow of Rs 884.95 crore into the secondary equity markets on 4 March 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 4242.23 crore and gross sales of Rs 3357.28 crore. On that day, the Sensex rose 39.49 points or 0.16% to settle at 24,646.48, its highest closing level since 1 February 2016.
The net outflow of Rs 2.95 crore from the 'primary markets & others' category on 4 March 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.73 crore and gross sales of Rs 3.68 crore.
FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 5013.70 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 4 March 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 6069.31 crore into the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have offloaded shares worth a net Rs 11237.54 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 4 March 2016). FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4361.67 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
There has been a net outflow of Rs 3.11 crore from FPIs from the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 4 March 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 547.92 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net outflow from FPIs from the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 399.70 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 4 March 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22167.82 from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
