FPIs continue buying

Net inflow of Rs 200.24 crore on 22 April 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 200.24 crore on 22 April 2016 compared with net inflow of Rs 943.40 crore on 21 April 2016. The net inflow of Rs 200.24 crore into the secondary equity markets on 22 April 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3706.70 crore and gross sales of Rs 3506.46 crore. On that day, the Sensex had lost 42.24 points or 0.16% to settle at 25,838.14, its lowest closing level since 18 April 2016.

There was an outflow of Rs 5.29 crore from 'primary markets & others' category on 22 April 2016.

FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 6838.73 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 22 April 2016). FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 20720.56 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 11308.05 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 22 April 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 90.27 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 22 April 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 422.36 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 116.04 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 22 April 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
