Net purchases of Rs 726.09 crore 26 July 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) remained net buyers of Indian stocks for the thirteenth trading session in a row on Tuesday, 26 July 2016. FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 726.09 crore from the secondary equity market on 26 July 2016, compared with their purchases of Rs 847.11 crore on 25 July 2016. The net inflow of Rs 726.09 crore on 26 July 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5535.06 crore and gross sales of Rs 4808.97 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 118.82 points or 0.42% to settle at 27,976.52, its lowest closing level since 22 July 2016.

There was an outflow of Rs 7.65 crore from FPIs from the category 'primary market & others' on 26 July 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3.83 crore and gross sales of Rs 11.48 crore.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 9639.85 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 26 July 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 3418.97 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 27875.83 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 July 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 486.45 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in this month so far (till 26 July 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 293.91 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' last month. The net inflow from FPIs into category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 1417.06 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 26 July 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' in calendar year 2015.
