Net outflow of Rs 261.91 crore on 5 January 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 261.91 crore during the previous trading session on 5 January 2016, lower than net outflow of Rs 586.59 crore on 4 January 2016.
The net outflow of Rs 261.91 crore into the secondary equity markets on 5 January 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3368.82 crore and gross sales of Rs 3630.73 crore. On that day, the Sensex fell 43.01 points or 0.17% to settle at 25,580.34, its lowest closing level since 18 December 2015.
There was a net inflow of Rs 16.85 crore into the category 'primary markets & others' on 5 January 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 17.24 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.39 crore.
