FPIs continue selling

Net outflow of Rs 467.48 crore on 5 February 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have sold stocks worth a net Rs 467.48 crore on Friday, 5 February 2016, higher than net outflow of Rs 158.35 crore during the preceding trading session.

The net outflow of Rs 467.48 crore from the secondary equity markets on 5 February 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3138.84 crore and gross sales of Rs 3606.32 crore. On that day, the Sensex jumped 278.54 points or 1.14% to settle at 24,616.97, its highest closing level since 1 February 2016.

There was a net outflow of Rs 0.01 crore from the category 'primary markets & others' on 5 February 2016, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.24 crore and gross sales of Rs 0.25 crore.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 84.15 crore from the secondary equity markets this month so far (till 5 February 2016). FPIs sold stocks worth a net Rs 10181.93 crore into the secondary equity markets last month.

FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 10097.78 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 February 2016). FPIs offloaded shares worth a net Rs 4361.67 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

The net inflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 52 crore in this month so far (till 5 February 2016). The outflow of FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' totaled Rs 944.51 crore last month.

The outflow of FPIs from the category 'primary markets & others' has totaled Rs 892.51 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 February 2016). The inflow of FPIs into the category 'primary markets & others' stood at Rs 22167.82 crore in calendar year 2015.
