Net outflow of Rs 612.23 crore on 29 May 2017

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 612.23 crore into the secondary equity markets on 29 May 2017, higher than net outflow of Rs 246.53 crore on 26 May 2017. On that day, the Sensex rose 81.07 points or 0.26% to settle at 31,109.28, its record closing high. FPIs sold shares for the second day in a row.

The net outflow of Rs 612.23 crore on 29 May 2017 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3952.28 crore and gross sales of Rs 4564.51 crore.

There was a net outflow of Rs 195.37 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 29 May 2017, which was a result of nil gross purchases and gross sales of Rs 195.37 crore.

FPIs have purchased stocks worth a net Rs 2986.38 crore from the secondary equity markets in May 2017 so far (till 29 May 2017). They sold stocks worth a net Rs 1645.32 crore in April 2017.

FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 37828.53 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2017 so far (till 29 May 2017). They had purchased shares worth a net Rs 12094.42 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016.
