Net inflow of Rs 231.98 crore on 28 April 2016

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought stocks worth a net Rs 231.98 crore on 28 April 2016, compared with net inflow of Rs 438.69 crore on 27 April 2016. The net inflow of Rs 231.98 crore into the secondary equity markets on 28 April 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 9150.32 crore and gross sales of Rs 8918.34 crore. On that day, the Sensex had slumped 461.02 points or 1.77% to settle at 25,603.10, its lowest closing level since 12 April 2016.

There was an inflow of Rs 3.96 crore into 'primary markets & others' category on 28 April 2016.

FPIs have mopped up stocks worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 28 April 2016). FPIs bought stocks worth a net Rs 20720.56 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 12817.01 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 28 April 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.

There has been a net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in this month so far (till 28 April 2016). There was an inflow of Rs 422.36 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 93.81 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 28 April 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
